Round 2 of the Monte Rosa Italian side 4000m peaks...
Clear skies, and back up the motorway to the col with the tents.
Then continuing up to the border into Switzerland at the Lisjoch
From here it was surprisingly flat and quite a panorama with the Margaretta hut sitting proud on the skyline.
We chose to go left first to the top of the Zumsteinspitze, and follow the obvious trail to the col and then up the ridge.
At the end of the ridge it got narrower and narrower until we reached the summit, form here the frontier goes down steeply to the col and up the other side to Nordend.. but not today for us.
Back across to the Signalkuppe and the Margaretta hutte, if we had any spare money we would have bought a drink, however we could only use the facilities .. one abiding memory was from the toilet the view was straight over to the Matterhorn.. only the temperature and draft from below encouraged you not to linger.
Parrotspitze was an intreging, and probably the most technical climb today .. a narrow kind of a ridge with some steep sections, however by now we had begun working well together and we were soon looking down on the tent lager again.
As we dropped down to the motorway we had some great views of the previous days route, before charging back to the hut and some welcome refreshments.
