Snow day

The morning brought a new world.. the cloud was down, and overnight it had laid 5 to 7 centimetres of fresh snow.

We seemed to be alone in the camp-site.. the other parties had abandoned their tents in the night and were all huddled in the drying room under the owners chalet.

We were the only ones who had toughed out the night.
Unfortunately the night had aggravated Chris's back and he woke up in agony. This would be his last day, as he struggled even to sit in his car before driving home.

The snow had made all the local routes extremely dangerous and the avalanche danger was now extreme. We had to review our plans and make new ones....  but first a day in the fleshpots of Chamonix.
