Grands Montets, France

First day shakedown ..  straight up to Lognan, and a quick warm up on the Bouchard. Before we went to the top.

This gave us an opportunity to look over at the col de Chardonnet, and reconnoitre the way for tomorrow, picking out the climb and the start point.

Then we chose to go down to the glacier (again as we would tomorrow). the snow was very packed down and skied, even off piste here, so tomorrow would be rattly.

A good view up the glacier and the Mont Dolent.

Then we set off down the glacier route, and the delicate manoeuvring around the seracs and ice bumps.

Very delicate in places

then back up to the normal descent route on this side.

Back at the mid station, there was much mirth and merriment, as there was a large pit filled with water and people were competing to "ski" over  the water tot he other side.

Those that fell in were warmed up in a hot tub.

A good warm up day and plenty to think about for tomorrow.
