Last full day in Champex ... the skies were clear, but it was bitterly cold, and with a fierce wind driving over the ridge line.
We chose to go back up the Champex lift. but the top was really icy and cold ... I made a bad error of judgement and set off down the red run to the bottom of the top lift ... Sue was not happy and not loose and warmed up, and her pet hate is ice ... after a few meters she was committed, but then wanted to stop.. there was unfortunately no going back, and so whilst the others went around a couple of times, she sidestepped down, whilst I kept an eye on her.
So form this she was not very happy and she stayed at the top whilst we went around a further time, then we all set off down the long trail to the val d'Arpette. By the time we were going Sue was back to normal, it was just the nerves of going straight onto Ice. After a break for drinks and chips at the refuge, we all went back to the top apart from Sue and Dom who went down to the car ..
We went back up and came straight down the red then the black .. which was just like a big bump field until it opened out onto the lower pistes.
So that was it for another year ... we all set off early (Chris, M-J and Dom had a ridiculously early ferry so were away by 6am. the rest of us were not far behind.
