Change of scenary, Austria

Our time in Stubai was coming to an end and time to investigate another area of Austria.  We could have stayed, but the weather was not changing and we could not guarantee to go high and actually achieve  some summits. So it was a good time to switch ... another area we had wanted to have a look at was the Silvretta region. This was another region where the ultimate goal would be to go high an make several trips from a hut.
We headed for Galtur a town at the end of the valley, but more importantly the stepping off point for the high level Silvretta tour. If nothing else we could investigate the lie of the land and get knowledge of where to go and more importantly the best place to leave the van.

The B&B with adjoining Cow shed.
We got to Galtur just before 12:000 and dropped into the Tourist office for a list of available B&Bs.  Looking at some on the list the concept of "budget" was not understood by the office, but the first obvious one was just around the corner .. Looked like a standard building at first glance, and we went in to try and find the landlady ... a cheery lady, and we managed to negotiate a good room and soon had a key. Unfortunately we forgot to ask about the time for breakfast, but more to tell tomorrow.
Leaving things at the new residence we headed to the end of the road ...   about 2 kms up the road into the violent wind ... the wind that would hurt us tomorrow as well. We wandered up the ski resort using the foot path, head down into the bitter wind, we really should have put on walking boots, but it was good exercise although we did need to drop in for a coffee on the way back.
Silva park and the end of the road
on the way back we popped up to have a look at the route to the Jamtal hutte ...  this is one of the main huts in the area ad had some intesting tours form the hut.
Route up to the Jamtal Hutte
Interesting when they get back to this car :)
At the end of the road where the parking began (or abandonment) one van caught our eye ...  the snow had melted underneath it, leaving the wheels on chocks of ice ...  an interesting situation to come back to.
So back to the B&B, only to find the end was a cattle shed where 15 or some cattle where penned for the winter.
