Travel Day, Switzerland

Deja vu .... out the window today was cloud and more cloud ...  the place looked like it was when Bryon and I had recced it several years ago.

We checked out and prepared to move ...  the forecast was not good for the weekend, so we needed to move somewhere we could do day routes.

With the original plan still in mind (the missing haute route section) we headed for Bourg St Pierre and a room at the Bivouac Napoleon.

Before settling in we went up tot he car park by the tunnel, to check out the conditions and such...  there were a few cars, and a reasonably strong breeze.

Then a commotion as a guy in a hi-vis jacket cleared a space. A helicopter came in and dropped off a couple of youngsters, I guess who had been out with a school party (the rest were by the restaurant) and got into difficulties.

After all this excitement it was back to the Motel and a walk around Bourg St Pierre ..  the only thing missing was the tumbleweed  ... it was even more desperate thean last time we had been here with Chirs and M-J.
Even the school bus was now just a minibus.

Back to our room .. we had the heating right up to drive off the damp ... the beds and carpet needed a good airing, so before long we retreated to the bar and went for the marathon record for beer glass watching, whilst reading books.

Dinner was very welcome and just what the doctor ordered .. steak hache and chips, with salad and strawberry mouse .. everyone was bloated by the end.
