Alpine Ski tour - France

Still tied to the academic year, and also that half term falls around Valentines day (florist high season) we opted for the Xmas break for the families ski break. A situation with Dom now at university, and Katie accepting a university lecturing job, the situation will not be changed for the foreseeable future.

Time was tight this year given that boxing day was change over day...  so we were resigned to the one day blind panic drive from home. I booked us on the fist ferry of the day (07:40) to give us the best chance... and all went well until we started the climb up to the col des Signes, just short of the first tunnel. Here we ground to a halt and crawled up the col and then all the way along the viaducts until we got to the approaches of Geneva. Another jam coming through Annecy.. and it was gone 9pm by the time we arrived at the chalet in Beaufort.

Luckily M-J and Chris had diner ready and we were able to make up the time.

The chalet was a large place on the side of the hill behind the fire station
The place had 4 bedrooms (2 downstairs, one on the mezzanine, one on the main floor) and the lounge/ Kitchen, so more than enough space for us all.

more worrying was the amount of green outside.. we would normally see snow piled up even if it was not all over.
