Col De Barasson, Switzerland

Deja view ...  back at the pass ..   the owner of the sport shop in Orcieres had recommended the Barasson valley for good snow. Being here it was too good to pass up.
A little chill at the car park, but clear skies was a portent for a good day.

Back up the trail to the pass, past the first check point and then off to the left before the second one. essentially following the power lines.
Over the first bump, and there in the distant the tete de Barasson comes into view.
A long flatter trudge along the valley before the next step onto a slight rise before the frontier ridge.

This rise has the memorial to one of the monks who died nearby.

Above there are two cols ..the col est de Barasson, and a second one to the east.

The first col, was the one we had used before to ascend the tete de Barasson, and additionally the second one had more traffic. It aloslooked like a better descent.
The traverse to the chosen col

The zigzags to the col.

Hot and still ...  sweaty work.
As we get closer the wind gets a little stronger ...  belittling the calm pleasant day before hand.

On the top not quite freezing but cold while we took in the view.

The view over towards Mont Fourchon, and also back down the valley.
Slightly packed at the top but quickly turned into transformed snow ...  a really pleasant and very enjoyable descent..  fantastic skiing the best of the trip so far.
A pause near the memorial to take in the sun and the warmth, along with a snack.

then continuing down to the trail from the St. Bernard's pass.

Back on the trail ... we stayed left, and rode the edge of the gullies down to the hospitalet.

Back at the road head ... drying time
relaxing at the Bivouac...
