At University I went on a number of trips, and these are a few, some are uni trips and others are just with mates. Toby had a car by the end of the summer, so some of these trips were in his car, others were in the univ minibus, or hitching from the bottom of the M1.
I had also started to accumulate my own gear, with a harness, and some wires and hexes. The rope followed later in the year.

Local Day Trip- Stone Farm Rocks
During the year we also "discovered" the local southern sandstone outcrops. We had a guide book that covered the main outcrops, and our initial visits set the tone for the future. Our first visit sometime this year to Harrison's rocks was very wet and slippery, and I never really got over that. We visited High rocks, catching the train to Eridge Green, and then walking (I had my bicycle, but the other two were walking) - we did try three up on the bike but it only worked down hill. High rocks, was equally disappointing, and I never really went back for more than a reminder.
On the other hand Stone farm was a delight, and the Bowles centre was like a sweetshop.
