Fontainebleau, France

Another fine day ... and as it was a week day in France we headed for another of the popular areas - Dame Jouanne. the yellow route there was 110 problems, but we were after the Mauve .. only 76, but similar length.

A massive 2500 ft ascent and 6 hours effort.. Trevor and I were the only ones to complete all problems, and not take any short cuts ..

What a fantastic day.

Fontainebleau, France

Even early in the morning it was hot today ... v hot after some discussion we headed back to JA Martin ...  and attempted the super hard Light Blue ...  too much for us even after all the earlier practice.. so off to the white problems

We paused at lunch time and drove into town for baguette and cheese, and had a lazy time in the car park eating and juggling.

After lunch we headed back into the Roche aux Sabots area to go around the blue problem again

Later that night we had a bonfire and BBQ together with a home brew concoction of fruit punch.

Fontainebleau, France

Dave and Sleepy arrived overnight and we awoke to find Dave asleep in the back of his van.

As the day was looking good we headed off to a more remote area called 95.2/ Les Gros Sablons, in a shady spot under some trees ..  but with 73 problems a long day out
The Orange/ Yellow took us most of the day in between rests for the heat.

Fontainebleau, France

Trevor did not make the May trip to Fontainebleau, but the tales had got him enthusiastic to see what it was all about.
We, together with Carol,  arranged to Meet Dave and Sleepy on their way back from their alpine tour, at Fontainebleau. on an extended weekend trip.

The three of us arrived at the campsite at 6am, and after settling in we headed off for some exercise.
We warmed up on a trois pignons - yellow near Roche aux sabots at Cul de Chien., before finishing on some of the Blue problems at Sabots.

Then back to the campsite for dinner.

Wintour's Leap, Day trip

The weekend as going to be good, so Nick, Trevor, and I headed down to Wintour's Leap

Trevor had his eye on King Kong...sp straight down there
The start was a real reach over the first block, and that was just the start.

As we were moving back to our second route, we saw Alan and Bryon above doing the girdle traverse. We stopped for a long range chat, when someone abive dislodged a large rock ..  the boys tried to hide under their helmets and it passed them by, landing right in the middle of the three of us on the bottom ... just where we were standing, We had scattered each taking a different direction, and only Nick suffered any mishap and then only from the nettles and thorns he ran into.  A timely reminder of why we wear helmets.

Following this minor excitement, we then moved on to a climb called Angel's Eye up the end of the GO wall.

I cant remember if that was it or if we did any more climbs.
