Aussois, France

A mid morning start and we headed up the mountain.. the sun was shining, but there was a vicious wind blowing that made the ride extremely cold.

We came down the runs each side of the main lift down to the mid station, before stopping for lunch at the mid station.

After lunch we went back up to the top and ran all the way down to the bottom, and then back to the apartment.

2006 Ski Trip, France

Aussois again this year ...  just Chris, M-J, Dom, the girls and myself. Sue had to be back at college early in the week.

We had contacted the people we hired the apartment from last year ..  the same place was not available, but they had completed the smaller one underneath that was just the right size for us.

We arrived in the mid of the afternoon. and popped up to the ski rental to get some skis and boots for the girls, after leaving the van in a parking spot opposite the butchers, slightly down from the apartment.

Departure Day, Lundy

Back home today .. It is really a case of waiting for our turn in the helicopter, then for the baggage.
Not before a last look back at our accommodation ..

squashed in the helicopter. back to the car and then drove home again.

West Coast Path, Lundy

More fun with our friend last night ... nuts by hand.

East Coast path, Lundy

Meet our friend .... introduced himself last night as he ran across the lounge and climbed on the bed in the morning.

We set off for an exploration of the island, the lighthouse and back along the East side.

Tibbetts ... would make a good place to stay .. no electric, and away from the rest

Down to the beach ... the steps were a little rotten, but we could get around them

Arrival, Lundy

Waiting for our turn on the helicopter

We squeezed onto the helicopter and the short hop to the island.

Once on the island we wandered around near the village visiting the castle and Devil's hole before our accommodation at the old school house was ready.

2006 short Break, Lundy

For Sue's 50th she wanted to go in a helicopter .. so I arranged a short stay on Lundy.

Les Mines de Manganese, St. Lary

Just above the apartment was an old mine, with some visitor arrangements. LES MINES DE MANGANÈSE
We went for the underground experience and to see that mining was no different in France to the UK. Again no cameras underground.

This was our last day and tomorrow the long journey back to Calais and the boat home.

Foret suspendu, st. Lary

Just down the road from the apartment we had passed signs for a "foret suspendu" .. so today we went there with the girls to have a play .. Sue stayed in the van reading, and I kept my feet on the ground.

Canyon de Anisclo

Back in Spain, and another trip to the Monte Perdido area... we drove up a narrow winding road to the parking slot ... getting there early enough to park in the area, and not up the road like the late arrivals.

From here we walked up the GR15 following the gorge, for some distance before we turned around and came back down the other side.

Stopping for some food before getting back to the crowds, and a paddle in the river.

Back at the van we all piled in and drove back to the apartment. in the searing heat.
