Watt's Gallery Circuit, Guildford

Another week, another walk in the local area...  this time taking in part of the north downs way near Guildford, and part of the route I used to take to work when dropping the van off at the VW garage.

Parking at Watts gallery and sneaking out the entrance to start on the lane that runs next to it. The sandy lane led uphill, for a while before levelling out. The sand helped it from being too muddy, with a lot a rain falling recently.

Up and into the woods ...  beech woods seem to be very prevalent in the surrey hills. These were the west and east warrens, the second of which was where we picked up the familiar trails.
Approaching the edge of Guildford, with the sun bouncing off the trees. the main part is over the hill.
At the law college, as this was where we turned around, we did a sharp turn up the road and onto a path heading south west.  This had a steep start rising above the road and down towards the Police HQ
Down off the hills we were now in the fields heading into Loseley park, running parallel to our outward track.
Bertie's favourite part ... the lake at Loseley, and he could not resist getting his undercarriage wet.
Then onwards through more fields and then out the back lane to the house
A steep climb up some steps to get out of the lane and we were back into the fields ... this time horse country, but there seemed to be many more horses than the fields could support as everywhere was churned up.
The track popped out a few meters down the road below where we started.  By now the gallery was emptying and dusk was beginning, showing the lights off.
A few reminders of the gallery, before jumping into the van for coffee and chocolate - Bertie had dog snacks so he did not miss out.
