Steph was taking Sue to Crawley and back via a visit to Barbara at Wellcross Grange, so Bertie and I hitched a ride to the Toyota garage and we jumped out to walk home.
We knew the track down the side of the residential home to the grass landing strip beyond. As well as the walk around the corn field beyond, onto the the track form the odd houses around.
This time though we crossed the Downs link path with a hump backed bridge. Then progressed down to the back road beyond.
Down the back road passing the Weston's farm shop
A partially hidden turn off the road and onto a bank between two wheat fields. Across to the church in Itchingfield.
Down the approach to the church, through the grave yard and out past the bell tower, down a narrow path to the woods beyond.
Across the footbridge and out the other side of the woods into the wheat field beyond.
The exit from the field led down a wild rose hedge and onto a drive for Lower Toat Farm
Behind the farm the track came into a field with a variety of fences and some goats or horned sheep. We ended up the wrong side of the fence and had to climb over in the corner
Through the fence and down a field with Alpacas, and onto a lane past Elmhurst Farm.
We left the track at Doe Farm to turn down an overgrown path that came out in a grazing field, and across to the woods beyond.
In the woods across a bridge (with the obligatory dip for Bertie) and past some interesting tree sculptures.
A short section on a driveway, and then down a path behind the industrial units of Five Oakes
Across the A29 and down a well used path through some scrubby wet lands, before it came out beside Ingfield school
A strange section through a field to pick up a stream, with the path crossing over
Out of the other side and into a field. the path ten followed the edge of the woods before going into Spar woods.
Beyond the woods we came into another wheat field which came out at a back road
Now we were back on paths we had been on a few times before. From the road we worked across the fields to the canal and the lock Malham.
From the lock, we walked up the track to the farm and then up the farm drive to the B2133. A zigzag up the road and down the Walthurst farm drive. From here the reverse of a local walk back up to Orchard Cottage and home.
