Wellcross Grange Return#2, Local

The rest of the previous two weeks in the alps was now over and all the equipment packed away, apart from the skis that need some TLC. Bertie & I hitched a lift with Sue to Broadbridge Heath as she went to see her mother in Wellcross Grange.
Down the side of the house and across the grass airfield, in the usual way, however at teh top of the arable field we turned left and down to the river - the last time we were here it was completely flooded and impassable.
Across teh new bypass road and through the housing estate beyond up to the old route of the Guildford road. Then along the old road to the roundabout.
On the other side of the roundabout down a driveway to teh house at the end, before a complex routing of the paths led around the back before crossing some grass fields towards Rapkyns farm.. Through the farm and around the care centre behind.
We came out of the care centre onto Cook's lane and followed this up to Smithawe farm. Then turning back on ourselves down Nowhurst Lane
the lane mutated into a farm track between fields - one of which had a pillbox sitting in the middle
Crossing the stream we then climbed up to Rowfold farm sitting on top of a slight ridge, and then down its drive way towards Slinfold.
on the outskirts of Slinfold we turned alongside the new building works and through the church yard. cross Clapgate lane and into a grass field leading to Stane Street - the A29
Across the A29 and over more grass fields. the path came out on a well used track in some woods that we followed south to the Downs link path.
We dropped down onto the track bed of the Downs link, and then followed it towards Rudgwick. the track was straight and free from mud disappearing into the distance.
Part way along we came to teh double bridge - there is a viewing point just below it. We took a pause to view it, although the river was too far down for Bertie.
Next interruption on the track was the crossing of the A281. Across this and back on the track through Rudgwick - there is not much to see as the track is lower than much of the village. Where the original track entered a tunnel below South Wood, we climbed up to the Sussex Border path
We picked up the driveway on the far side of the woods and dropped down to Lynwick hanger. We followed the edge of the trees in the grass field and down to teh A281 once more.
Across the A281 and through the fields beyond heading to Tisman's Common
In Tisman's Common we picked up the road to Barnsfold farm ( a slight misdirection at the cross roads. When teh road ended at the farm house we continued on the lane beyond - gradually getting muddier. We followed the path into the woods outside Loxwood ..  very much well used and exceedingly muddy
We navigated through the woods saved from the clay pits development, and ended up on a simple path through a dingle dell that came out into the fields behind Spy farm.
We crossed over the main north/ south track through the fields and down into the village of Loxwood. Through the village, across the B2133, and down the side of the new development to the back track. Along this to behind the old post office, and then down to Devil's hole lock on the canal.
Back along the well trodden route from the canal into Ifold and along the drive to the house.
