Chichester Canal & Walls, South Coast

It was damp this morning with threat of rain showers all morning, however I needed to get a new pair of walking boots, so needed to go into a town with some outdoor shops. I settled on Chichester as there was a "free" car park outside near Hunston, and a walk along the canal into town. We could park up and walk along the canal then around the walls and back the same way.

We missed the car park on the first pass and needed to turn around and go back to it - it is half hidden behind the hedge. Leaving the car park then across the Poyntz bridge over the canal - with views up to the cathedral.
The canal is relatively straight at the start, with a couple of boats on trips/ working puttering down. Just faint drizzle in place of any real rain.
Around a sharp bend and under the A27, then up the approach to the basin, passing the restored swing bridge that had originally come from Poyntz when it was broken. By now the rain had stopped

Into the basin where the canal offices and café are located at teh point the canal terminates.
we walked on and over the rail crossing and up to the town walls.
We walked around the walls clockwise, until reaching East street, where we stopped off into Cotswold outdoor for some new boots - he best fit were the most expensive, so lets see how long they last.
Around the final quadrant then back down to the canal basin. A stop for a coffee and bun in the volunteer shop before setting off back to the car park.
Back down the towpath, with numerous moorhens parading around, on their nest , or shepherding young.
Back along to Poyntz bridge and around to the van.
A short walk avoiding most of the rain
