A Sunday stroll with Karen, Les and Amy. We drove across the forest north to Damerham - which when you look on the map is not that far from the old dears old place in Bishopstone - just thinking of all the times we could have met up when visiting her!.
We squoze the van into the pub car park (The compasses) and after messing around as we all got ready and set off along the road past a garden that Karen and Sue were amazed at, and down a twitten between horses fields. continuing on a back road before turning up a driveway that led to a junction of paths where there was a debate on the route forward, whilst the rest of us looked at the wooden caravan in the garden next door. The path followed a stream with several ponds - all crystal clear - which both dogs enjoyed, and then passing a fishing pond
Into a field with a second crop growing through the remains of the harvested wheat stalks. There was a faint humming that got louder as we continued, and I was lookign around for a strange bird.
however as we got closer it was the pylons where there was some repair work going on and strange pulleys on the pylon presumably to replace the cables.
The paths were closed under the lines so we had to divert , crossing over to a parallel track that would go in the return direction. The return track was really a farm track and returned to Hill Farm where we picked up a back road before it mutated into a path.
The path came out into the graveyard of the church, and hence onto another backroad. this took us back to the school and the twitten return to the pub.
Back at the pub and time to settle in the garden with the dogs.
A drink then a debate over lunch - I had just about convinced everyone that it was a great idea to go for a number of Nepalese side dishes and naan bread - it was run by a Nepalese family. When we came to order this was not available on Sundays and only after 5pm the rest of the week. So plan B ... Sue and I (together with a plate for chips for the dogs) had a main course as we could then go home without having to think about dinner. Karen and Les shared a fajita platter, whilst Amy had a sushi box.
