Minstead & South Downs

Lloyd and Katei were down for a visit, so while Katie and Sue went off shopping, Lloyd and I took Bertie out. The day was brightening up so a I planned to park at Stedham common car park walk across the common to the Minstead road then follow it and the subsequent tracks down to the South Downs. A climb up the edge of the Downs to the SDW then along to Didling Hill, and back down again. Back up to the bottom of Stedham common and then circle around back to the car park.

Parking in the car park and across the back road into Steadham common and along the Serpents way. half way across we dropped down into the common to work over to the bottom corner.
Down Minstead road to the farm of the same name, and there continued on the farm track in the same direction
The farm track became a gravel track then tarmacked as it approached Linch Farm. Around the farm and down a sunken track climbing slightly and aiming for the downs
More steeply once we reached the edge woods covering this steep side of the downs. Up on the tops we paused at the tree trunk seats and looked back north to where we had started.
Along the SDW heading west across to Didling hill where we picked up a chalky farm track dropping back down.
Through the hamlet of Didling and into the fields beyond. A long grass field and we crossed a track and entered a rough overgrown path before it exited into a small wood.
Out of the wood and into some fields bounded by a high fence (Deer?) working up and across a back road before crossing into henfield wood.
Around the houses of Fitzhall and up the drive until we turned onto a path through the woods beside the driveway.
Across into Iping common to avoid walking up Elsted road - a circular route to follow the tracks back to the car park.
