Cowfold Circular

It was overcast, and after dropping Sue and Katie off at their places I headed for the downs link crossing the A272 at the old West Grinstead station. I had a route planned around the village of Cowfold.

Parked up in the downs link car park and then just a short way up the old line until I could turn right into a field, then left up the driveway
Off the drive and through the fields on a green track. This ended at a driveway for Belmoredean dressage school. Along the back road for a short section.
Just after Little Champions farm I followed a path into the fields behind the farm.
The fields led into a small wood, then into fields to curve around Heathtolt farm. Down to the back road from Maplehurst.
Another field led down to Sherlock's wood, then climbing to Micklepage farm and the second back road from Maplehurst.
After a short distance to pick up the path heading east towards Boyd's wood.
Down across a grass field, that led to a strange pond and seating area in the middle of nowhere.
through more fields to reach the first back road from Maplehurst and down the driveway to Green acres.
Behind the farm dropping down to a stream and some complex junction (this was at the bottom of South Lodge hotel. The next field was being converted to a vineyard, and led to the A281.
Over the road and through some scrub between houses, through the fields parallel to a back road.
Down to the end of Leonard's Lee park area. Around a pond at the end of the associated lakes.
Into the woods of the estate following the main track. Over a back road and down Earwig lane.
The lane came out at the entrance to Colwood manor, and followed the drive until it turned and the path continued along the edge of the gardens.
The path opened out into a field that eventually led back to a track leading up to a back road.
Along the back road passing Colwood park, then along a well used track into woods
Through open ground (a new path isolation fencing put into place) this was Wykehurst park and led to the High Weald Landscape trail. I turned down this towards Bolney under an old arch.
Into Bolney village and around the residential roads before cutting through a wooded area with the leaves falling.
Then an open grass field leading down to some new houses. The path followed the edge down and through the graveyard beyond.
Over the A272 and into grass fields, disturbing a deer on the way down.
Curving around past Garston's farm, then down its driveway to cross a backroad.
Around Brooklands farm and across to Coombe house.
Around the grass fields on partitioned paths and through a small wood. Next up past a huge sub-station construction with more transformers than usual.
Over the back road and into what was shown as wooded, but really a field leading down to a bridleway.
Through the fields to King's Barn farm, over the back road  and onto King's Lane - tarmacked driveway.
Leaving hte driveway onto a diagonal path heading towards Cowfold
At Eastlands farm I turned down a farm track to Baldwin's turning before reaching it.
around the edge of a ploughed field to reach  to Dragon's farm, and down its drive to cross the A281.
Into Chates Farm - a complete mess, and found a path that zigzagged through the yard and into a terrible field which was grass covered divots. This gave way to a field churned up by cows but more squishy.
Climbing up through mown fields, then reaching a complex bit where the paths did not meet and I had to walk around three sides of a square. Eventually reaching woods with a cell tower in it.
Through another field to a back road, following it down to Chuck's farm. The path paralleled the driveway to the farm then dodged aroudn the edge of it.
Through more grass fields to Well Land farm ..Things got tricky on the far side of the farm and the path crossed a ploughed field - wet and sticky - my boots grew twice as heavy. At the far side into some woods with a little stream where I tried to wash the mud off and failed.
The last section climbing up to the downs link then along the track bed towards the old station and the car park.
