Esk Buttress, Eskdale Meet

A long weekend, and we had some good weather, so a trip to the lakes was on. We chose to wild camp in upper Eskdale, walking in from the end of the road between Wrynose and hard knott passes, following the Mosedale valley, then dropping down into Eskdale.

We scouted around the Meandering river for a dry(ish) patch not too far from the water supply and pitched camp.

The place offered great views of Esk buttress and also scafell and pike. as well as Bowfell at the head of the valley.

After lunch we went for a stroll to Esk buttress where we all climbed Bridgers route, except Nick and Bryon who pushed the boat out on Central Pillar with 3*s. I would pay for my comments tomorrow.

Back to camp for supper and a fight against the midges ...  one of the tales after a few beers lead Christine to trying to light sheep poo to chase off the midges, whilst the rest of us contained the giggles.
