theodulpass hutte, switzerland

 For our next route we chose to return to a couple of peaks that between us we had attempted on several occasions in the past. Castor and Pollux were two prominent summits of the Zermatt skyline.
The aim was to catch the Kliener Matterhorn cable car up to the middle station and walk up teh ski pistes to the Theodulpass hutte..  the same hut Dave and I had used on our very first trip together in 1988.

From the middle cable car station it was a reasonable walk up to the top station at Testa Greiga (the Italian side) , you could see all the way down to valley below and Cervinia.

From this station we continued down to the Hut arriving around lunch time...  plenty opportunity to dry off and catch some of the afternoon rays taking in the fantastic views.

The next day we would go back up the ski slopes towards the Kleiner Matterhorn station, and as usual we checked out the route we would follow in the dark.

We were almost alone in the hut, with just a couple of skiers, but the mood was elated.
