This years ski trip ... We had booked a chalet at St Gervais.. it was close to the cable car, but far enough away to be relatively secluded.
This year we were Chris and M-J together with Dominique, Katie and Steph. Sue stayed in the UK to look after Suki (our dog) as she was getting very infirm and would not have survived being in Kennels.
As we were only 6 people , it made sense to travel down together in the Caravelle, so we all met at our house and set off for the ferry. We were delayed in getting to the port, but eventually got away. We had an F1 room in Reims, so we could split the journey.
Arriving at St Gervais in the afternoon, we used the daylight to find the site, which was well up the slope away from the town, and following the zigzags.
The chalet was one third of a building over 3 floors, with a steep road to go down to it. The road was covered in snow as we arrived, and we needed snow chains just to descend.
We moved everything in to the middle floor, but parking was a little difficult and we had to reverse into a tight lay-by - this would come back to haunt us in a few days, but for now it was safe.
The accommodation was 2 bedrooms at the top, central area of seating, and kitchen.
Downstairs was the third bedroom, and another seating area, but this was more like a preparation area for going into the cold.
