We crossed over into Spain and headed towards Figueres .. near here is a
Dolmen trail that goes up a valley towards the ridge, across the road again
and continues along the skyline.
After a bite of lunch under a convenient tree at the end of the trail we
continued along the ridge until we hit the peak of San Salvadore. Here there was
the ruins of a castle
From the peak we could look over the bay of Roses and also down a zigzag path to
the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes... of the Verdera mountain below the ruins
of the castle of Sant de Verdera that had provided protection for the
monastery.
From the monastery we walked down to the road where I left everyone and charged off down to the van ... There was quite a way to go and the girls were just about done in, so I dropped down, had a very long drink and took off some heaving boots before driving back up to pick them up.
