Afternoon Stroll, Latschau

After last year, Bryon was taking greater care of his muscles, and had instigated a late afternoon stroll where possible to prevent his knee from seizing up.

As the afternoon wore on the clouds had retreated to just covering the peaks. The warmer weather also pushed away the last vestiges of the local snow - we would have to walk to the start tomorrow.
Bryon's favourite stroll was up to the Stausee and around the perimeter before dropping back to the apartment.

The Stausee was generating - shown by the water pouring in.
Around the north side of the reservoir there were a number of entertainment activities - a climbing wall, a forest gym/ climbing frame, and a long zip line over the reservoir.
The Mittagspitze was shining in the sun on the ridge opposite giving a clear view of the route up ...  through the woods on the rib. Then up the snow rib and into the top bowl before gettign to the col.

From there by foot to the top.
The works beside the Golm  Skilift have a visitor's centre that shows how it all works ...  the main machinery is both generator and pump ...   this allows the plant to use spare electricity to pump up water to a higher reservoir, and then in times of need, it can release it back down and use the generators.

Back to the apartment and supper - pork cutlets and gravy with pasta and vegetables.
