Leith Hill Circuit, Surrey Hills

Another week day walk because of Sunday band practice, this time we went up to Leith Hill and a circuit starting at the tower.

Leaving the van in a carp park on the road we took the "easy" track up to the tower.  The weather was improving, but still clouds around after days of rain.
As we were walking through the woods the sun came out and made patterns in the trees.
The trees were thinning out as we neared the tower before opening up to heathland.
Around the tower was grass and the seating areas for the inevitable coffee shop.

Steeply down the other side and back into the woods.
We would now be in them for the rest of the walk, as we followed a valley going north up to the nearest settlement.
the track was damp but not boggy due to the chalk and sand base, under the leaf mould.
A short section on the road we headed back towards the van following a parallel valley to the one we had followed out.
The sun was making its self felt and caused a lot of steam as things dried out.
No expansive views today, but there was a lot of interesting wooded sights.

back at t he van Bertie leapt in ready for his picnic ... this may be the only reason he comes along!
We did not see many people once we had got away from the tower .. this seemed to be the limit of most expeditions, which made for an excellent walk.
