Sunday Stroll to Hascombe Hill, Local

A cloudy/ drizzly day in November .. maybe a stroll around Winkworth arboretum for the afternoon and see the autumn colours. On the other hand when we got there a big notice indicating tickets only and it was sold out ...  it is an outdoor area, seemed strange, however time for a rethink.

Back up the road was another car park, just below Hascombe Hill, near Hascombe grange. Once more the car park was full, but this time we were lucky and someone was just leaving and gave their place to us.

The woods at the bottom of the hill were crisscrossed by large firebreaks/ paths, and together with the crowded car park seemed to be the Sunday afternoon dog walk place of choice.
We soon left the main paths and people by taking a direct rout up through the beech glades to the ridge path above.

The main track up the ridge to the top, seemed less steep on the way up - would be different on the way down. Opens out as it reaches the end of the ridge
The iron age fort area spreads right from the top, Bertie and I had been here earlier in the year on our walk to Guildford.

Dropping down over the ramparts back to the main track, before a quick look over the edge to the south. Dunsfold aerodrome and the three aircraft parked up.
A very interesting sculpture on the side of the path ...  a number of sculpted tree sections into a seat.
Back down the track to the avenues at the bottom of the hill and a return to the car park .. now much emptied giving rise to the belief it was all post lunch dog walks.
Bertie was disappointed that there was no picnic, just a return home for a cuppa.
