Peasmarsh to Godalming, Local

The van was in for an MOT..  not as instantaneous as they would make you believe... so I planned to walk into Godalming and pick up some lunch things before heading back.
Dropping down to the canal behind the garage and the lock, after they had been working to cut back the scrub and expose the pill box.
We had to jump over a large tree lying across the towpath and the canal.
Further down at the tannery bridge, and then further on the debris of trees fallen in the recent storm.

Following the canal around its snaking turns to the wharf at Catteshall, then the final bend up to the road bridge at the entrance to Godalming.
A large circle to get to Waitrose and pick up some lunch things.
Time to head back...  taking the short cut across Lammas Lands to avoid the bends of the canal.
The path was very wet in places and I was glad I wore the snow boots.
Back at the tannery bridge from the other side, and along the back of the pub.
Avoiding the worst of the muddy towpath by taking a detour through some  parkland behind the allotments.
Once more over the fallen tree, and back to the lock that marked the point where we needed to leave the canal.
Back at the garage and it still needed a wait for more than 30 minutes for everything to be completed.
