Sue had an appointment at Worthing Hospital, so Bertie and I went along for support. We could not park in the hospital car park and had to go around in several circles to find a place in one of the public car parks nearby. Once there we went for a stroll along the beach whilst she was inside the hospital. We set off through the Bowls club greens beside the car park - these seem to be in disrepair with one given over to a dog play park, two more fallow, and only two looking as if they could be used. Beyond the bowls greens into a park then memorial gardens before crossing the A259 to gain access to the promenade and hence beach.
Looking both ways along the promenade, before settling on heading East. The prom has been divided into a cycle path and a footpath, but no one seemed to pay any attention to it.We continued along the prom towards and then past East Worthing.
At the boundary between East Worthing and Lancing we came across Brooklands park. This was the old Brooklands pleasure gardens that was undergoing a revamp. It seemed a logical point to make a circuit and return back to the car park.
Through the park to the lake, then up around the new facilities being installed and finally back to the promenade.
On the way back we walked over the shingle to the beach for a while. The tide was coming in and we could only manage a short stretch before we had to return to the promenade to avoid having to climb the Groynes.
