The new Year over so the thoughts cross to our ski tri to France, this time Bryon was coming along together with Jenny and Toby. KT would come, but Lloyd did not have any spare holiday left so she would ride the van with Sue, Steph and I. I had booked an apartment in Beaufort once again ( I do like this area) although we could have gone back to the same apartment as last year, there was a slightly more expensive one just around the corner with more floor space that I believed would help. This one was down beside the college and next to the river, and had four bedrooms and a huge open plan kitchen dinning and living room (divided into several areas).
The plan was for Steph to bring KT down from Nottingham on Thursday night, and stay over with us so we could leave early Friday to catch the 11am ferry from Newhaven. We would then drive across country and stop over somewhere in an Aire before continuing the next day to Areches to pick up the keys and meet up with Bryon and his gang. We would try and keep off the peage as long as we could, using them where time was getting critical.
The itinerary for the week would depend on the weather and how everyone was feeling, in addition Jenny was still a beginner on skis and KT had only just started on the boards, so would not be touring
The Return would be similar, however we needed more concentration on the clock as we were booked on the midnight ferry home.
The trip started with low cloud and problematic visibility, with flurries of fresh snow, however as the week went on the skies cleared, the freezing temperatures had kept all the powder from being too heavy and it lasted all week.
