Leith Hill to Pitch Hill Circuit

It was forecast to be very hot today, and I wanted a shorter day starting early, however I did not get away as fast as I wanted. I planned a walk along the Greensand hills and back through the fields below it. The walk would cross to Hurt Wood zigzagging through the woods to Pitch Hill. Then down to Ewhurst and throguh the fields to Forest Green before climbing back to the Leith Hill car park.
Parking in the NT car park for Leith Hill house, then setting off to Tanhurst over the road of the same name
Through the woods of Burnthouse copse and Great Foxmoor Wood leading to Upfolds Farm.
Down the farm lane to the B2126 and into the woods beyond climbing once again.
Over Holmbury Hill Road and climbing very steeply into Hurt Wood, coming out onto the Greensand way for a short distance.
Leaving the major paths and following the byways over the undulating slopes
Another major junction and taking the track as it climbed up to a heathland area
Over the top and back down into the trees. Then taking a path across following the boundary of the open access area.
On the sand tracks in the same direction to cross the Radnor road. Dropping down a steep slope to Gasson farm.
Into the woods climbing the other side and to a wide track leading gently uphill.
Approaching the top of Pitch Hill
The trig point on the top with views over the fields to the South Downs

Looking down the slope towards Cranleigh.
Down the road (Ride Way) to pick the track (to Rapsley farm) after a false start . This track was a driveway and I had to cross a gate to the correct track. The path crossed the lane to Wykehurst farm and into the fields beyond.
Turning onto the driveway from High Wykehurst and lodge of the same name. This came out into the village of Ewhurst.
From the village taking the rectory lane (and the hidden gate onto the path around the nursing home). Then a complex zigzag on residential roads to gain the fields.
Through the fields to yard Farm.
More fields around Worth Breache Manor (including throguh a hay field being prepared for bailing) and down to the ponds behind Cobbetts farm.
Along more fields heading towards Waterland farm.
Around the farm and into woods crossing a stream for more fields. A big house looks down on the fields.
Into Forest Green walking up beside the cricket pitch. Over the B2127 to the the common land over the other side.
At the car park below Leith Hill estate, and into the open access area. Climbing up through the woods, with the sun beginning to affect me. Following the tracks back to the car park, arriving at the van feeling very tired and needed a short lie-down, before lunch and a drink.
