I chose to go down to the coast between Shoreham and Lancing/ Worthing. This would be fairly flat and Sue could manage it with her dodgy knee. The idea was to park at the Widewater car park and then walk along towards Worthing and turn around once it got too much.
We parked in the almost abandoned car park at Widewater lagoon, and had a quick look at the sea - rough and breaking waves. It was pouring down , but the wind was gusty but not too fierce - definitely a day for cagoules, and hood drawn tight.
Then it was up to the concrete promenade path behind the beach huts - we did make a diversion onto the shingle for a while. Along the path as it traversed between the sea and the lagoon, then the sea and the caravan park.

At lancing beach we continued past the park up to the café.
Here we reached the limit - decidedly wet and feeling the chill a little. The sea was still rough but the rain and wind had died slightly. There was also a wagon set up as a Sauna with cold water baths outside along with several hardy souls making use of it (there was also one near the car park - this one a horse box-, but I don't think it was fired up.
Back along the same way as we had walked out. This time with head down and a very determined stride.

Back at the car we had to get out of wet boots and cagoules without getting too much water inside the car - not easy, then we had to demist all the windows before we could set of back home for tea and cake.
