True to the nature of weather patterns recently, we had a grey day after yesterday's blue skies, with a promise of rain later in the day. SO after the success escaping from nursing duties yesterday, I though I could sneak a walk in before the rain. I would stay local once again so I could get back for my nursing duties. This time heading along the canal, accessed through the adder field, and following it past Loxwood to Drungewick. From the re following the back road to the footpath beside the cycle place, over the B2133 and into the woods to Hurst farm. Out to Skiff lane and down the Wephurst park driveway. A loop around via the reservoirs and back to the drive, continuing up the farm track to Orchard Cottage and home. These are all frequently followed paths around my home.
After making preparations for my patient to survive for three to four hours with drinks, food and medication, I set off through the village to the adder field and hence up to the canal. Along the canal past Devil's hole lock where the new bridge parapet looked complete but the scaffolding still in place. There was a working party on Brewhurst lock, moving a barge through it (lightbulb jokes come to mind here!)past Baldwin's knob lock and on to Drungewick Aqueduct.
Across to the main track I use to return from Kirdford, and up through Wephurst Furze and back to the big house drive, Now on the very frequented short walks I use, so I followed the farm track up to Orchard Cottage and then along past Ormond House, up to Plaistow road and back to the village.
