Castle Walk, Kufstein

We needed a rest day - we had been going for five days and we had tired out the latecomers so we had a lay in with most people emerging after 9am. The weather was still blue skies and warm sun so it was not long before a stroll was mentioned. We had some chores to do - rubbish to dispose of and deposits to collect, however we were also entitled to a "guest card" that offered discounts on various things - one of which was the castle (actually when we got there it was a free entry ticket).
We had to first go to the hotel reception to get our guest cards - although they still had made up addresses and DoB.
A walk through the town to the spar to drop off cans to be recycled, then back to the castle.
Finding the entrance to the castle and negotiating the barriers - only half the cards worked but we got through.
There were two ways into the castle - a funicular and a zigzagged walkway. The indicated way is to go up in the car and down the walkway.
At the top of the ramp is the old manpowered wheel treadle.
The castle experience was much larger than I anticipated and we had plenty to see and keep us interested
There were numerous views from the ramparts over the Inn and other views.
Including torture chamber displays
And cannons of various ages and designs

We walked from one end to the other then back down a tunnel that provided an enclosed route back to the other end. We then walked down the zigzag path to the entrance.

After that we crossed into a spar for bread for lunch and than back to the apartment via the river bank.
