I was leading this AAC walk, and was anxious about the number of people. On Tuesday we had 3 other people, but by this morning it was up to 13, with the latest two joining over Friday. I had not booked in with the pub stop as it would not be sensible with 4 of us, but 13 was a different matter, however I was determined to go with the flow and not make a booking. As it turned out this was not an issue.
I parked at Witley and caught the train up to Godalming - I was an hour early so I could get a bacon sandwich and coffee before the start, but also to field any calls - there were none, but I did not want to tempt fate. The day was forecast to be a hot one - so I sat in the sun waiting for everyone.
The other 12 people arrived in dribs and drabs over the time I was waiting, and just after 10am we set off aroudn the station and up the other side. This was following the same route as Monday.
Above Eashing we crossed into the fields and worked our way down to the river.
The Eashing bridge and over into the fields above the river Wye and along to Milford.
Around Milford and over the A3 into the Rodborough common. Through the common and out onto the bridleway around Borough farm.
Through the Scots pines and into Ockley common.
Around the common to the start of the boardwalk. Along this and around Pudmore pond, then along the extension over the island and out to the Dragonfly sculpture.
The path then climbed up the heathland end of the common and down to the village of Thursley. The Three Horseshoes was opposite the exit of the path.
Here we moved into the garden and settled on three benches before ordering. There was no issue with us ordering individually, and the food soon arrived.
After an hour we were ready to move on - must be a record on my walks!
Out from the pub and down to the green, working around to the Greensand way. Following this along to the A3, and an elongated U bend, then down the driveway to Cosford farm.
Up aroudn Heath Hall and down to Lower house. Here through the very tall and narrow kissing gate before dropping down and climbed up the other side to Furzefield wood.
Out another of the "impossible" gates beside the back gatehouse to Witley Park. Along the back road to cross the A286 - Busy road with blind bend made the crossing challenging.
Into Heath Hills - climbing the sunken path, up to the path around the Hill House.
Down the road to Sandhills, and over the common, dropping down the steep path to a green lane.
Along the green lane to the back entrance to Witley station - luckily not too long a wait until the next train towards London.
An enjoyable walk with good timing.
