When I am home on Saturdays, one of the traditions is to go to the local shop in the next village for a loaf of bread, and a couple of croissants, then return home to make a coffee for both of us and eat the pastries. This started with Bertie and taking him for his morning walk, however I have continued it since his "retirement".
Today the weather was predicted to be hot, and getting hotter, and as I needed to stretch my legs further I chose to extend this walk and return via the canal at Bonfire Hanger. It would also get me out before the heat of the day.I took the usual route to Plaistow and the shop - through Ifold to the Loxwood road then across the fields in a loop back to the road.
From the shop I went up to Plaistow place and then into Hog wood, and along the Sussex Border Path to Lee House Farm. From here I followed the farm track across the river Arun and along Sydney Wood to High Bridge, where I met the canal tow path.
Along the canal through Bonfire hanger to Gennets wood bridge, and continuing all the way down to the adder field. Hence back into Ifold and home.
