Rovfugletårnet, vildmose nature reserve

After dropping Katie off at the university we ran away form the centre of Aalborg. We searched for something to occupy us for the time before we could get into the apartment we had booked for the days we were in Aalborg and I found a nature reserve close to the coast. We went to the Rovfugletårnet bird hide which is part of a bigger nature reserve - Lille vildmose.

It was a drive into the countryside and down narrow roads - luckily there is very little traffic around here. This was the first stop after getting into the reserve area - the entrance was directly after the cattle grid.

We parked in the car park (there was only one other car but it had taken the only shade), Then our down the path to the bird hide.
This started down a gravel track along the reserve chain link fencing. On the other side was a body of water - we did not see the extent of this at any point.
Around half way the path entered into some trees and along a bard walk - some of the boards were a little rotten so care had to be taken.
This all ended at the hide ...  not the cosy little shack, but a huge place on stilts.
We climbed up (including the slipped step) and looked around - I think it was too hot for anything to be doing more than hiding in the shade.

Then back along the same track to the car. We did make a detour to see the lake beside the path out of curiosity.
then back to Aalborg via a stop to watch the ferry at Egense.
