The apartment in Aalborg was very basic and only contained 2 pans for cooking
and a very abused cooker and hob, so we took the easy option and went out.
Each of the nights we wandered into the centre of the town to find a
restaurant for dinner. This was not a simple as it seemed as there was a
prominence for takeaway/ fast food outlets, then a large number of cafes that
offered snacks. The alternatives were the typical burger and steak options, so
each evening became a trawl around the streets looking for somewhere
"different".
The four nights clocked up different routes in and around since we were also
exploring how best to get from the apartment to the various possible
places. I had been hoping for a mix of options that build on national cuisine and merged with European.
Each night's walk was between 3 and 4.5 kms getting shorter as we learnt the best way back and forth. As this was urban walking it was all on pavements beside roads, on in the pedestrian precincts. there is not much to describe as it was a street map reading exercise.
First Night
We caught up with Katie then wandered around looking for a suitable place before ending up at a beef/ grill restaurant choosing the Salmon
Second Night
We wandered in to pick up Katie after her presentation and went for a pizza/ pasta place we had passed on the way in.
Third Night
Katie had a conference dinner so we were on our own ... and after looking around a bit and not finding anything appealing we went back to the same place as the first night just with different food choices.
Fourth Night
We wandered in to pick up Katie after her conference completed and she had done her shopping. We ended up at the brewery tap "gastro" pub ... not so much gastro as typical fare for Aalborg.
