Inwood Hill, All Stratton

We all emerged in the morning after a calm night. the sky was clear(ish) and the sun out.

We worked out a route that would go along the skyline on the far side of the valley, then down into All Stratton village for lunch and back via Caer Caradoc.
We left the campsite, and up the back rad until a path that led across the fields to the major road - A49 where it met the B5477.
Further fields (and many stiles) we crossed over to the railway line and over a small stream. Getting to the stream was a challenge due to several horses demanding attention.
Behind the stream we climbed up through a fallow field, and over a back road, finding a path beside a house.
The path opened out at the bottom of Inwood hill. Here we followed a path that circled around to the ridge and up it.
On top of the ridge we saw that the original route followed a path that did not exist down to a road and up the far side. However a better option seemed to follow the ridge to the slope in front and then around to meet the original choice.
We followed the major track to the houses and aroudn to the left on the grass swathe.
Around the dwelling staying at the top of the slope. This led to a further open grassy area.
Looking over to the campsite and Caer Caradoc on the other side of the valley.
Around the slope heading for the higher point. Here we paused to decide the way down - we could follow the back road or the bridle way around a gully behind the trees.
The road was closed to traffic so w took the bridleway - this started off wide and steady, however after dropping over the edge it got steeper and also narrower with lots of loose shingle.
Down the path heading for the bottom of the valley
Once on the bottom the track became wider and followed around the valley to a large car park.
from here it was along a back road into the village. Then along the B5477 to the pub - the Yew tree.
After a large lunch we left the pub and continued up the B5477 until finding a path that crossed over a stream and field.
A zigzag aroudn a driveway and back over the railway line. A final field up to the A49.
On the far side of the major road w crossed over a field and into the woods. After this zigzag on a farm track it went across a field to a hedge line.
Over the hedge and into huge ferns blocking the path. Sue and I left the others here as they would go right and then over the Caer Caradoc. We, however, turned left and followed the lower path.
Along the path until it met the diagonal path down from the saddle at the far end of Caer Caradoc.
Then down the first path - this was steeper than I reasoned when looking at the map and should have continued along to the second path. This path merged onto a farm track and down to the farm.
Through the farm and out onto the back road that led back to the campsite.
The others came in after a while and we all joked about the size of the ferns.
