Sue had an appointment on the Surrey Research park for about 2 hours, so I looked for a walk and worked out a circuit going out the park beside the railway and up to Littlefield manor, then across to Willey Green. Curving around to return via Wood Street Village and Broadstreet Common. Finally back into the research park and meet up with Sue again.
I wandered along the paths between the buildings to get to where I remembered the exit was beside the satellite company. Unfortunately this was blocked and I had to backtrack and find an alternative exit. Once on the footpath along the side I knew where I was.A detour into the field across the path to see that a path existed around it - this would be useful for the return leg.
Having crossed (under) the railway line and along the edge of Park Barn then into Broadstreet Common and along the houses on the far side.
Over teh back road to Wood Street village and down a path to Dunmore farm. From here along a series of fields all inside a wooded cocoon covering the path.
Eventually coming out into a field where the path turned towards Littlefield manor. There were a numb er of paths here, but the one I wanted was fairly obvious.
Then along the farm drive way towards (but not entering) Littlefield Common. Turning sharply into a field and over it to a second before negotiating some inquisitive horses.
at a farm track I cut over a grass field towards Angers Hill then some scrub before coming out into a yard for electrical contractors .
Down the drive to the back road, and a path on the opposite side.
This path was a sunken byway which climbed up in a green tunnel. At the top I could not find the exit to my path so climbed the back and into a horse field. Luckily it was easy to spot where I should be.
Between the horse paddocks and down to Willey Green. Again over the back road and onto the continuing path.
After the houses this opened out into a large cow field. At the far end I met with the Fox way, before turning around sharply at a dilapidated barn
A long curving path led through a grass field with signs about pot holes - I guess they will be tree planting at some stage - but not yet. At Claygate farm I followed their driveway along to the end of a back road.
Through the woods on a wide cinder track across to Passenger's farm and into the woods on a wide bridleway.
This bridleway led into Wood Street village and out beside the White Hart pub. Well remembered from working days.
Along beside the village hall and back into Broadstreet Common (actually I think it is called Backside common at this point). Having followed the winding path through the woods it came out at some houses beside a railway crossing bridge.
This came to the top of the field I had surveyed at the start of the day ... so I knew I could walk along it and get back to the research park. From there I followed the outgoing track back to the car. Sue was waiting as the appointment was much shorter than she anticipated.
