Billingshurst to Horsham

I had to pick up a hire van in Horsham, close to the station, and Sue was off to Brinsbury for some garden therapy. I could have caught a train from Billingshurst, however I decided to walk over, having grabbed a lift on Sue's commute and got off at the end of Billingshurst Bypass.

From the Bypass, I walked around the minor roads until I reached the junction with station road. From here I followed a footpath into the woods.
The footpath followed the edge of the the woods to reach Rosier Wood. There were a number of unmarked trails around. The path finally ended at Rosier gate - a chaotic field and caravans.
Across the A272 and down a driveway to a house. There was a path down the side of the garden and aroudn the back.
The path (narrowed by overgrown bushes) went around the field to the far corner.
Into a second field and around the edge of this too. At the junction of hedges I turned out beside a pond. I was forced out along a diversion as my original path was overgrown.
Onto a back road and along it to re-join the original route heading across some grass fields.
At a corn field I followed a tractor track and had to cut over to the hedge where the path dived through to a grass field.
The path emerged by the residential buildings of Emmetts farm, and across one of the gardens.
Through the fence toa farm track, and a second diversion ... this one because of a huge bramble patch across where the path should go.
Following the farm track left and then through a cow field to get onto the proposed track through a corn field.
Along an overgrown track through woods to a gravel track that led to a back road. a zigzag on the back road
Along a path between two horse paddocks and into the woods of Lackenhurst Furzefield
The path followed the edge of the woods and into a final field, heading for the tree line opposite.
turning along the woods beside St John's farm, then over a back track onto a major track through the woods. Along the track to a crossroads, turning left along a gravel track to a junction beside Crookhorn farm.
Across to a back road beside a house, and into Dragon's estate - A huge wooded area with a number of trails through it.
A dip over a stream and back up to continue beside Birchwood farm.
Along the farm track/ Driveway up past The Chase, after a few twists the drive took a  sharp turn and I continued over the field opposite. Over a back road with a slight zigzag.
Down a path beside gardens to a field with a fenced off track. The end of the field I crossed the Downs link and continued over the edge of the built up area of Southwater.
past a play area and into the urban environment. HereI was on footpaths through the housing estates and small roads.
over the river in the middle and more housing estates  before turning down a path to the bypass.
Over the bank shielding the A24, and across the busy road using a break in the barriers, and down the driveway toa crane suppliers. the original path was lost, but down beside the big barn, and along a bridleway.
The bridleway bent away, but I crossed to a back road, which I followed to a sharp turn at Jackrell's farm.
Through the initial yard and onto the path beside the main farm building. Towards the end of the track it became a driveway up to a back road.
Over the road and onto Pedlar's way between horse paddocks, with large imposing fencing. There was also a pine that had been hit by lightning.
The path continued along the side of Denne house park on a gravel track until it reached a long bend
This was the moat of Chesworth Farm, and apart from crossing the stream, a complex set of path junctions.
Up the far side and across a grass field climbing a small knoll. Then along another well laid path.
Approaching the edge of Horsham, an d down to the A281.
From here it was all urban roads, working my way over to van rental site beside the railway.
