AAC Walk, Crimpiau, Capel Curig

Overnight had been strong winds and rain, however by the time we had finished breakfast the wind had disappeared and the rain settled to only a few drops.
My original plan had been to follow the path up to the col below Crimpiau, then climb the ridge to the top and follow the continuation back above the outward journey, re-joining it above Capel Curig. However the plan would be revisited after reaching the col depending on the path situation and the state of the walking - the maps do not show a path, however there are plenty of route descriptions following this concept.

The rain had cleared and it was just generally overcast when we set out - Y Wyddfa was hidden in the cloud, but generally the lower fells were clear.
We set out to follow the track below Cefn y Capel that we had done the other way yesterday,
Along this broad green lane to the house then down into the village itself.
Still following yesterday's route in reverse we climbed the slope behind the old chapel, and onto the stone pavement.
The boggy bit through the trees and up to the hanging valley was wetter than yesterday and we were accompanied by a mountain bike tour - they left us once the tricky bit was over.
Onto the stone pavement in the hanging valley, with our views along towards the end.
The path here was gravel and very well maintained. It snaked around the old moraine humps along the bottom of the valley
Towards the end it looped around a larger flat area (maintaining height)
Before the final slopes up to the col.
At the col We dropped over the far side a little way to get a bit of a view, and to pause for lunch beside the sone wall.
I climbed a small hump on the far side to get a better view down the valley.
Up here would have also made a good lunch spot, but it might have been difficult for Sue, who stayed at the wall below.
The path up Crimpiau looked well used and very viable, however Sue was feeling the walk so it was prudent to follow our outward journey back t the village below.
The view down was dominated by Moel Siabod, and Y Wyddfa(still hidden in the clouds.
Back on the stone pavement we helped a group of ladies out with how to get back to Capel Curig - they were on a retreat and had gone exploring, I think the chat got them further then they appreciated!.
Down tot eh village and a choice of directions to return to the centre...  We chose to go down hill along the A5 to the cafĂ© where we could pick up the road leading along the forest opposite the centre.
Crossing the river - in more of a flow than the previous days, and even some waterfalls in the woods.
Back to the centre, and a final view across the lake to Y Wyddfa (still in cloud)
