We arrived at the campsite just after 4pm, as it was getting dark. We were shown to our plot - half way between the two facility blocks (one was shut for the winter) - and sheltering behind a wood and arow of trees. However it was dry enough to be able to move the van when we wanted to.
After we had pitched up and looked around at what was on offer both inside the site and the near neighbourhood, it became obvious that despite the large housing developments there were no pubs near nor any restaurants everything was in the city. So coats on for the walk into the city - luckily it was a very easy navigation down a straight(ish) road. We had driven up it to get to the site and knew it had a pavement all the way, however there was also a hill - down going but up coming back.
We followed the road down to the edge of the ring road and across beside St. Augustine's abbey and stumbled upon a Chinese restaurant with table seating (as well as take away) - The Royal Inn Restaurant. we had the place to ourselves for most of the dinner.
Afterwards back up the hill, where people were gathering on the hillside to watch the bonfire night show at the county cricket ground. This was in full swing by the time we got back tot he campsite and with sod's law I could only get one picture of the fireworks due to the delay on the camera, and my impatience. We would hear the fireworks going off every night of our stay!
