A drier day after several fronts of rain had passed over, so after a day working around the house we went off for some fresh air. I thought the loop around the deer park at Petworth would fit the bill for a short walk before it got too dark (or the park closed).
We could not use the main car park as it closed at 4pm and we would only have 20 mins, however they advised us to go to the deer park car park which would give us another 2 hours. After getting a members ticket form the machine we set off towards the lower pond, the sun going down and shining through the trees.
Beyond the pond we climbed up the slopes to the ridge beside the bog house.
Over the ridge and looking down onto the big pond - the house is still around the corner to the left.
the ponds were still and had some good reflections.
With our backs to the house showing the full panorama of the pond and the giant dog sculpture.
We then curved around the end of the pond and started up the slope to towards the Upperton gate.
Continuing up the west edge of the park before cutting over to the lodge.
There were two groups of deer grazing on the central grassy areas.
Then along the top of the park back to the car park, passing the top lake.
