Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Stroll

On the way across the country, to the AAC autumn gathering we stopped off at the Pontcysyllte aqueduct to stretch our legs and delay our arrival time at Plas y Brenin (we could not check in until 5pm).

We parked in the main car park - an old chemical works reclaimed land (charges apply) and walked along the canal stub to the main basin just before the crossing.
All the boats were tied up, apart from the tourist trips over the Aqueduct.
The museum was closed, however there were a couple of canal trust volunteers standing at the entrance to the aqueduct, and we felt we had to stop and chat to them.

We then walked along the walkway across the aqueduct - Sue was a little unsure of her new knee and held the railing - especially when we were passed by other people (and the tourist boat)
Once over the middle we stopped for a photo opportunity, before returning to the starting end.
After a further chat with the volunteers and donation to the canal trust, we retreated to the chapel café for a warming drink and cake, before returning to the car and continuing on to Capel Curig.
