Walk down to Steinach, Trins

After 6 days  of good weather, we woke up to heavy rain hammering down..  not really sure where the snow line was and with the clouds down over the tops, we had a lazy start to the day.

Once the rain stopped we debated what to do - another stroll around the village taking in the other side of the valley and the "chateau". The next was to go up to the head of the valley and explore the paths around the end. However we settled on walking down to Steinach and taking in the the Brenner Basis Tunnel exhibition.
We walked down to the main road and over picking up the Sonnenwege
We followed this route down to the river, where it turned back up the valley.
We crossed over the river and followed the forest road that traversed along the side of the valley above the river.
The forest road passed between the trees and open spaces, sometime clear gravel and others covered with snow and ice.
Sometimes the icy sections needed to be avoided to the side , others could be walked down.
On the outside of Steinach the road dropped back down to the river.
Over the river then along the northern side to pass under the Brenner motorway.
At the exhibition for the new tunnel (tunnelweld) we passed a huge boring machine that was used for the exploration tunnel.
We went in and around the exhibition (free), and played with some of the interactive exhibits.
Then down into the town to find a place to sit and have some lunch, before Bryon remembered he had left his hat in the train simulator.
Back to the centre to pick up his hat then along the river. This time staying on the northern side. This was a farm road and led back along the stream to the bridge we had separated at.
Back up the Sonnenwege (with a pause on a bench for the oldies) and back to the apartment.
The rain had held off, but the sky was covered and the clouds rising an dropping all day.
