Sue was off to church again, so I chose to go along and hen circle around o get back home - this time going north and east.
From the church heading up to Logaston, then cutting above Sarnesfield Coppice and down to the A4113/ Weobley junction. Next back towards Sarnesfield church, looping around the large house and back to the A4112 for the final mile home.
We followed the main road to the church in the quiet before most people had got out.
Then leaving Sue at the church I followed the path opposite to the recently harvested wheat field (easier walking than last time).
Now through the orchard as if going home.
After the bridge over the stream I turned towards Logaston searching for the path leading through the hedge.
Next through the following orchard and up to logaston common farm.
Around the farmhouse and up the lane to reach the back road (Newchurch road), then up this to the next sharp turn.
Now into the field (no sign just a rusty gate). U and over the shoulder to look across to Sarnesfield Coppice.
Through the hedge and across a harvested field, then the next one which had a grass runway running down the slope.
Across a bridge and over a wheat field to a redirected path around the next house to the A480.
Over the main road and through a cut in the hedge to access a grass field.
It started raining here, and I kept going as it was just a warm shower.
Through a couple of fallow fields to reach a back road.
Over the road and an overgrown stile led to a further green manure field - no obvious path or border.
At the edge of Sarnesfield coppice, the path zigzagged aroudn to the field and then followed the edge of the wood.
These fields had a wide boundary and easy trail finding up to the home field for The Birches.
This field led to the farm driveway then a back road.
Down the back road to the next field boundary where another overgrown stile led into harvested fields.
Through the field and the subsequent scrubby one before dropping down to the Riddox.
Another section on a back road led down towards Weobley with views of Barton hill behind it.
When the road bent I climbed into a sheep field, disturbing them for their shade.
This led down to a zigzag on the A4112 next to the Weobley junction.
Down the road to Weobley (B4230) before leaving into a field, and heading back west, parallel to the A4112.
After several grass fields, with and without sheep, and a couple of over grown stiles. then a recently ploughed field crossed to a stile in the corner.
The next field of wheat had not been cut, but had a faint trace through it where someone had been before.
I broke trail roughly in the right direction and crossed to the next (harvested) field.
A broken gate crossed to a grass field and I climbed to a stile diagonally across it. Here a permissive path gave access to the A4112 (I went up the wrong side of the fence, since it was mown).
Down the road and over a stream before a path led up a track and (through a broken gate) to a field.
A zigzag into a green manure field (no path and no boundary), before it got easier when changed into a grass field.
A cow field gave access to the back road beside the Batch.
Then opposite the barns through a gate (the stile completely hidden in shrubbery) into a field.
A series of grass fields crossed a dip and up to the A480 close to Sarnesfield Grange.
A small stile led into a harvested field that cut the corner off to the A4112.
Down the main road now, avoiding the heavier traffic since this morning.
Back home in time for lunch.
