Weobley & Dilwyn Explorer

Sue was away with Steph at a Wool show, so I came up with a combination of walks from the Weobley Walks book. Starting from home, I aimed to follow the large circle route around Sandersfield to the junction of A4112 and B4230 to Weobley, however rather than going to Weobley I would follow the back road to the Hurst, and then back to the A4112. Another loop through the Haven and down to Dilwyn.
Through the village and along the back road out to Field's Place. Onto the bridle way back to Weobley. Once there through the housing estates to the surgery, and back to the central square.
Out to the Ley, and on to Fenhampton wood. From there I planned to follow the permissive route down to Eccles Green now that the shortcut through Hyatt Sarnesfield is closed off.
Finally back home on the usual route back home from there.
Out the back down Newchurch road to pick up the old Defra initiative permissive path to the footpath up to Newchurch.
Across then to the coronation wood - the path is a guess work but a good field edge to walk on. Then through the woods, although I could have stayed on the field edge.
A zigzag and continue along arable fields - with a cross from one side of the hedge to the other.
The path ends up through the garden of a house before reaching the A480 opposite the old pub.
Along to the topiary house - I am not sure what it is supposed to be! then the path immediately after it around a ploughed field. the path should go across to the upper corner.
I took the easier option (at first up a neighbouring field and had to climb two fences to get back to the stile into a cabbage field before turning up to a farm.
Across to the side of the farm through two gates to the back road.
Over this and slightly to the side was a hidden stile into another arable field with minimum border.
Over the hedge to the neighbouring field (with better border) to go along the edge of Sarnesfield Coppice.
At The Birches, a narrow grass track took me to the driveway, and down to the back road.
A short way down the back road and across to a cabbage field - the path goes past the Oak tree, through a gate to antoher field.
The path ended at The Riddox, an ddownthe drive to a back road.
This headed downhill with views over towards Leominster.
Down at the A4112, I took the back road back uphill to The Hurst, still with views over the hedge.
Past the Kart track and on to the Paddel court.
Down to the A4112 once again after passing the famr at Lower Newton.
A short way along the main road  then a passage through the hedge and into the field behind.
Over the field and around a pond to the side of the farm at the Haven.
A final field to reach the back road to the house.
Opposite I went up the narrow backroad.
This road wound around up the hill then joined a second one and became a little wider.
Past Tump Ash farm I turn off the road through a gate and down a ploughed field.
The next field had cws, and an electric fence partitioning off the path, but this was very narrow and chanced an inadvertent zap.
At the end an elasticated bit (still live) let me escape with only a small zap.
Into the wilder area above the A4112, before a steeper drop down to the edge of the road - along to a crossing point (safely within the field).
Over the road and down through a grass field to the edge of the village.
A small grass path led to the main village street, and up to the green
I sat in the middle and had some lunch opposite the pub. All around were the black and white buildings.
Down the road back towards Weobley, and along to Field's place.
When the road tooka sharp turn a bridleway continued towards Weobley, all the while looking at Hay Bluff and Twmpa.
The bridleway continued through grass fields along the bottom of the valley.
I paused to look across the valley to the side I had crossed earlier.
Along to the outskirts of Weobley village. Here I picked up a path that would have originally been around the outside, however now leads through several housing areas.
Back to the centre of the village, to pick up the Hereford road.
Across into a field beside the lane, on the village circular route.
At the path crossroads, I turned towards the Ley.
Past the bog house and through the farmyard behind it.
Leaving the yard on a farm track that led to a grass field.
Across a ploughed field - I had been here before so knew where it went, then down the side of the next field.
Now I was on the "Permissive route" - I hoped, since the way through Hyatt farm was no longer possible.
The path (I believed) followed the wide field margins, and wound down the parish boundary.
I was not sure where the route went when I got to a junction of tracks, however I could see one that went towards the A480 close to Green farm.
I took it then along to the back road to Calver Hill and the village Hall.
Now on very familiar territory I followed the track down towards Parks wood, with a final view over towards Hay Bluff
Down the track to the woods then over the ploughed corn field, before cutting all the corners off across the grass fields to the driveway from Park farm and so up to the A4112 and home.
