The walk starts out on a paved footpath through the cliffs above the beach, but below the housing level.
At the end of the bay, where the headland started, we passed a couple of diverse buildings... first the old victorian bathing pool, rotting away, and an "exclusive" home perched on the cliff above
Heading out along the head land became easier at this point as we passed a pub and car park, with a wide track leading to the head.
Along this the path separated one branch heading up to the tower and the other along to the end of the head. We went up hill ... slightly right then back to the tower.
Looking back to the town, as well as south to the calf of man.
Last step to the tower
Back of the tower .. built on a round tower and square add on, with stairs up the round end. the tower was open and you could walk up to the top, the two intermediate landings were blocked off.
Looking out over the Calf of Man.
Then we retreated back on the direct high level route ... this met the road coming to the town along the coast ... then down the promenade to the train station.
On the way back to the van, we passed a chippy, popping in for sit down fish and chips. Then back to the campsite to sit and watch the sun going down.
