Old Farts Meet, Chiltons

We had arranged with Bryon and Sue, Chris and M-J to meet up in the Chilterns as the lockdown was now well and truely over, our 32nd wedding anniversary was just before so Sue and I decided to tack a day on the front and have a slightly extended or long weekend break. We would drive up on Thursday taking in some sites on the way and settling in to the campsite a day early. So avoiding the direct route up the M25/ M40 we cut over the A272, then aiming for Oxford, and back down to Stokenchurch

The campsite - Home farm - was a field off the back road from Stokenchurch. the facilities were in a block by the farm outbuildings. We parked up with views over the valley below and watched the red kites flying above.
Dinner in the pub just beside the campsite on the road. A kind of gastro pub/ restaurant, but very genial. A limited menu but very tasty and enough to see us through the weekend.

Back to the campsite and meet up with the Sue & Bryon, who had recently arrived, and M-J & Chris who were out with Dominique.
Over to the pub for dinner (again) this time to try another entry from the menu.

The next day ... started off wet, rain waking us, so a slow start before it cleared up and we went for a circular walk from the campsite.
Back at the vans for tea and chat, before the coldness chased us to the pub for dinner - second options on the menu.

Our last day started in a similar fashion - low cloud and mist but without the rain. Once we had packed up we chose a route similar to the previous one but cutting it in half and reversing the direction.
back at the vans for lunch and a final farewell before we each head off on our own way home.
We took a relative direct route back, however avoided the M25 via Bracknell.
