The blue skies continued, so I planned a walk around Leith hill - looping around to the west and down to Forest Green. Then looping south and west back to Forest Green, before returning up to the NT car park.
I parked int eh NT car park above Leith Hill place as I was in the van and this did not have a barrier. Then following the Orange markers out the back of the car park and over the back road climbing up the track to the tower.
The clear skies showed the south downs from the view point.
Then following the white signs to go to the Landslip car park. This went down the slope ahead then at the valley slightly up the other side before peeling off right.
The path arrived at the back of the car park (I noted that this one did not have a barrier - useful for future trips).
Along the back road to the corner.
At the corner taking the footpath downhill into the woods.
This continued until it crossed another back road.
Into the fields beyond this second road still going east towards Gill Wood.
Through a small wooded area and a further field before the path was fenced off as it approached a driveway.
Along the driveway past Bearehurst and a barn where I turned onto a footpath climbing up slightly going back on myself.
The path went over a shoulder and views of the south downs opened up again, before turning south across the fields.
There is a lake behind this bump, but I did not see it, and continued around Great Copse.
The path walked through Buckinghill farm, and out the far side, before a sharp turn to the west.
Up on the hill above was Broome Hall, but I followed the edge of the field to the corner.
Across Broomehall road, and down a second driveway with the path going out the far side past the house. Then around a ploughed field.
At the end of a second ploughed field the farm track continued through a "no entry" sign, however the path continued into Fatting hovel copse to the right.
Through a grass field to Hartshurst farm. Then along the drive to a point where the path veered away from it.
The path continued through a second field, however I saw a purple sign along an unmarked track going left into Church wood
Through the wood on the stone path to cross a driveway and into a field.
The path continued down the side of a cow field, to cross Leith Hill place road, then a small zigzag to continued down a farm track (still on the purple route).
Down beside a field with views up to Leith hill (the tower is just visible in the dip). Then into the NT woodland attached to Leith Hill Place.
Down the main track through the woods to the car park just off Ockley road.
Over the road and along the grass verge into Forest Green.
Just after the pub, turn into a small residential road. The path left from the right hand end (through yet another house drive).
Through a pair of fields dropping top the far corner.
Past an abandoned walled garden and over a small stream. Then along a wide track that merged onto a farm driveway to Gosterwood Manor farm.
A long way aroudn the farm then along a path beside a field.
A number of horse paddocks (all bounded by electric fences) and over a farm lane beside Fishfold farm.
An awkward further couple of paddocks where the path was an after thought when the fence was erected.
Finally reaching a stream with a bridge that came out on the side of the Gatton manor golf course.
Across the golf course on a deviant course since the signs were not clear (apart from moaning about dogs stealing golf balls!)
Onto New Barn Lane - which seemed to bisect the golf course. Then a little wooded island.
Another part of the golf course with a footpath leading to the manor gardens.
Up beside the manor (also a hotel as well as a golf club), and down past the car park.
Away from the manor driveway, the path cut across to the farm of the same name and then out down its driveway.
The drive turned at Greenlane, and I turned up it, before peeling off and over a field to Parklands.
Through its gardens and down the drive to the back road. Up this road to a gate leading over a field to Wollards farm.
Through the farm and along a farm track, turning north through a field parallel to the drive way to Pond Head farm.
Past the farm, and along a farm track
The track followed some trees between fields (the map did not show them) then into an open field. Across it to the far corner.
Across the next grass field to meet a bridlepath along the top edge.
Turning left along it to a field lading down to a large pond.
Around the pond and through a pair of grass fields with a fading path.
Down at the hedges the path crossed a small stream and up to B2126 down to a path beside the drive to Wickland farm.
At the farm barn - now residential I turned along the edge of horse paddocks before a final wooded path leading to a back road (cotton row).
Over this and down a farm, driveway.
Before reaching the farm I turned up a narrow path leading up to some houses at the end of a narrow road. This path was overgrown with brambles that had a tendencies to grab as you past by.
the path went through yet another house driveway. Then down the road to go back to Cotton row.
Over the back road and through grass fields to Little Birketts farm. Beside it I turned south again on a path through more fields
Before reaching Forest Green Farm, I turned along a path into woods that finally exited into a grass field.
Over this and onto B2126 again.
Down this back to Forest Green and the closing of this loop.
Rather than go up through the NT woodland, I followed the path just over the fence through grass fields.
A final grass field before crossing into Leith Hill Wood still following the fence line just inside the woods.
At the end of the path I came out onto Tanhurst Lane - I could have cut back in the the NT woods, but chose to walk up the road, back to the car park entrance.
