Stane Street Circular, Brinsbury

I dropped Sue off at Brinsbury and had worked out a walk that would keep me occupied until she finished (and I could use the car ark at the college). The idea was to circle around out of the college to the Toat café then over to Broadford bridge via North Heath. Then up to Coneyhurst, before returning via Kingslea, and Lordings farm to reach Lee place house thence on to the college.

I left the car in the college car park and followed the farm lane out of the buildings to the west before taking the footpath along a stream through grass fields.
A sharp turn up horse paddocks and then through the sheep fields next to Stablebarn farm
Down the back road to Toatwood farm and up the path along the field below Toat monument.
The path mutated onto a sunken track to another back road. Over this and into the woods around Parson's field.
Across a grass field back tot eh road before disappearing down a tangled path. This cleared up as it went through a grass field until it reached the edge of a house and garden.
At the junction there were two paths (even signposted) however both were severely overgrown. I forced my way along the path to the Toat café at the result of nettle stings and bramble rips.
Over the Stain Street and down the path leading to the railway line.
Down a lane on the other side then onto a bridleway beside a field, then into the next one.
Over a couple of back roads and through a grass field to the edge of North Heath.
Up to Moon's farm, and along the farm track out the back (ignoring the two dogs that came out barking to chase me away)
Next around the convolution of tracks at Westlands farm
A series of grass fields led around the end of Gay street before a knights move to Gatwick copse.
A short section through the woods and a final field leading to Broardford Bridge farm house - really several large barns
Around the barns on narrow paths then onto the B2133. A short section down the road before I could escape.
Along the driveway to a stud farm
Around the horse paddocks now going north.
A further grass field and down to a bridge over a stream.
Down a farm lane to meet a back road. Along the road until the path continued down a house driveway, and into its parking area.
Through the gardens and into the horse paddocks behind it.
A sharp turn aroudn and back to Coombland farm. the route here would go on an extended loop in an S shape.
Through hay fields and a scrubby path now parallel to the back road. Then a sharp turn along a hedge line to reach Balls Green. Up the back road to Daniel's farm and down a path that led back to the field I had just gone around.
Looking at the barn and house from the opposite side, before walking down its drive. Past the house the track improved to a tarmacked driveway.
I left the driveway as it approached Kingslea, and turned up the path to Stonepits rough.
Into Rosier wood, following the woodland trails to go through the middle of the wood.
Leaving the wood by the fancy stile and down past an industrial until into Kingsfold. I wanted to take a path heading west, however it was not obvious amount the "private land - no access" notices.
I ended up heading south through a field leading to a back road. Then down the driveway to Marringdean farmhouse.
Through a number of grass fields following the hedge line.
A grass airfield appeared near Hadfold farm.
Down to the farm driveway that led to a level crossing. I had to wait for a train, then across it and back to Stain Street.
Into the field on the other side - keeping to the right of the hedge to avoid the cows.
Through a hedge and up an awkward field leading up to Lordings cottages.
the path goes behind their gardens then turns to cross Lordings Lane.
The scrappy fields on the far side led across to Knobs Crook and Woodlands farm.
A last field led down to the path from Tanners farm and Lording's lock.
On this track climbing up to the driveway to Frithwood farm.
Along the farm lane to Lee Place House to pick up the back road past Wobblegate farm, and up to Haybourne.
Finally reaching the footpath back to the college - this went across a newly ploughed field - luckily I knew where it went.
Finally through the the cow fields to reach the farm track back tot eh college - this was the one I had walked along this morning.
Back at the car park I settled down for some refreshments and to wait for Sue to finish.
